Action Items:
1. Approved the minutes and bills of the June 16 meeting.
2. Approved Resolution #8-2009 authorizing Bonnie Schafer, Comptroller, as authorized signer on behalf of the City of Carson City bank accounts.
3. Approved the repair of fire department pumper #2 for estimated $4,700 from Belt’s Auto.
4. Approved the annual cost of $100,000 from the street fund budgets of $600,000 for preventative maintenance of city streets.
Discussion Items:
1. Fire Chief Dan Kipp reported on incidences such as dryer smoking, rollover on truck, and a false alarm.
2. Police Chief Jeff Hilliker reported June as a very busy month. He stated the police car is in dire need of replacement due to headlight deficiency and an estimated heat modular replacement of $1,000. Council suggested shopping at a dealership with possible car replacement to save time, pending approval on grant.
3. DPW Director Dan Curtis updated on receiving new mowers. The old DPW garage has been moved out of town due to one sealed bid with the cement removed. DPW is also working on cleaning up Grove Park.
4. Administrator Mark Borden stated the possible purchase of 201 N. Division (formerly Flower Garden) is no longer being pursued due to elevated estimated costs. The shed at Carson City Hospital has been moved out of town. Remaining concrete from the shed is in the process of being removed following cable verification. The signage on M-57 through M-DOT for Grove Park, CC/Crystal Elementary, CC-C Middle School/High School, and possible athletic field/ball fields is being researched. Estimated cost is $1,500 per pair. Council questioned if school and city can pay this bill jointly.
