Regular Meeting
Minutes of regular meeting held October 20, 2009, 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Members present at roll call: Cusack, Grinnell, Kapustka, Miller, Stanton, Tasker and Herald.
Mayor Herald presided and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion by Tasker seconded by Stanton to accept the minutes of the September 18 meeting as presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Stanton seconded by Grinnell to accept the bills as presented:
Motion by Kapustka seconded by Stanton to accept the 2008-09 Audit Report. Motion carried.
Motion by Cusack seconded by Kapustka to close E. Pine Street for the St. Mary’s Craft Show on October 24, 2009. Motion carried.
Mayor Herald set Halloween hours for Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.
Motion by Cusack seconded Grinnell to allow the Carson City Crystal Band to have a Spook Walk at the Grove Park on October 29-30. Motion carried.
There was discussion on the new street signs, the locations, size, design and colors. Stanton recommended spending $12,000.00 from Marven and Bonnie Poindexter’s donation to pay for the signs. Motion by Cusack seconded by Kapustka. Motion carried.
Chief Kipp reported engine # 2 was fixed and felt the bill was fair. The fire department is still updating the list of past firefighters and installing bronze grave markers.
Police Chief Hilliker reported the new police car is supposed to come in anytime. The police department has received the COPS grant, Nick Barbour will be starting fulltime with the department. Chief Hilliker discussed getting new equipment for the police car, new uniforms and patches with Carson City Crystal students designing the patches. Community policing was discussed also.
DPW Director Curtis reported he started discharge October 1 through the end of the year. There were some plugged sewers reported. The DPW crew have done a few sidewalks this fall and leaf up will begin.
Administrator Borden reported MDOT is asking that the school sign for M-57 be made smaller and remove Carson City Crystal from the sign as per requested by the state. State can not put up signs on M-57 until next year.
Borden introduced the Performance Resolution # 11-2009 to do work on M-57 right of way to include installation of way finding signs for the schools and Grove Park.
Motion by Kapustka seconded by Grinnell to pass Resolution #11-2009.
Bids were accepted to take down the house at 210 N. Division St. Low bid was submitted by a local contractor of $3800.00. Motion by Stanton seconded by Tasker to accept the low bid. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn by Miller seconded by Kapustka at 8:15 p.m. to meet again for a regular meeting on November 17, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. |
